Iconic uniforms : Air France

With 36 years in the industry, the creative teams of CREATION & IMAGE Paris have dressed over 400 companies. You have probably, knowingly or not, stood next to someone wearing one of our creations. Here are our iconic uniform for Air France, recognized worldwide.

An outfit reflects its time… Over the years, French fashion designers have been shaping the look of flight attendants with a shared vision: elegance with a French Touch.

In 1987, Creation & Image Paris design team created, under the Carven Uniformes license, the chic collection that was worn for more than a decade by Air France cabin crew.

Style but also comfort and practicality made the new wardrobe a hit with the crews.

The « Frégate » shirtdress, in a navy wool crepe, with removable white collar and cuffs and a satin floppy necktie, remains to this day the staff’s favorite dress according to Christine Scazza, Head of Air France Historical and Cultural Heritage department.

The sophisticated « Frégate » dress was so popular, it holds the record of the longest style in use, more than any other Air France uniform item.

Air France has constituted an archive of all the uniforms since the start of the airline and organizes for special occasions vintage flights and fashion shows.

The iconic « Frégate » truly is timelessly chic.

Creative process : Accor Group Yongsan Hotels

How to make a great first impression? On a cold, crisp day, we were greeted by the porter of the Grand Mercure Ambassador Hotel in Seoul Yongsan wearing an outfit and spectacular hat created by CREATION & IMAGE Paris.

CREATION & IMAGE Paris designed in 2017 the uniforms of the Accor Group Yongsan hotels (Grand Mercure, Novotel Ambassador, Novotel Suites & Ibis Styles Ambassador) for their front desk, porter, managers & restaurant team.

The concept behind the collection we developed is a subtle mix of traditional Korean outfits with couture codes. A key inspiration for the stylist in charge of this collection is Lee Young Ae, a famous Korean actress, who wears a Hanbok in honor of her culture.

The outfits include an element that refers to traditional costumes to enhance modern and tailored shapes suitable for different body types.

On both male and female pieces, the necklines and shirting details are quite striking, adding a Korean touch to tailored, structured and fitted pieces with a saddle stitch trim for a couture signature.

To create a link with the Grand Mercure’s corporate identity, a range of purple hues were used across functions except for the restaurant staff for whom the different restaurant ambiences and decoration were taken into account.

For the porter, a visitors’ first point of contact, we developed a striking and memorable uniform thanks to a hat inspired by a traditional Korean headpiece.

This recent trip to Korea confirmed how remarkably dynamic the country is and how much they value French Couture savoir-faire and creativity.

Our teams, including our Korean patternmaker, are working on many projects in Korea.

The diversity of the clients we advise on their image and how we strengthen their Brand is a true expertise of CREATION & IMAGE Paris.

Reinventing an industry

With the pandemic, the fashion industry has had to find a way to reinvent itself in the face of the health threat.

As catwalk shows were cancelled, Fashion Week organizers sought to develop a new way of presenting fashion collections.

During the confinement, fashion shows and presentations had to be 100% digital, through streaming on different platforms, online collection books…

And even 3D collection presentations !

Balmain fashion house teamed up with LG to reimagine the exclusive front row in digital.

Along the runway, as if they were sitting at the show for real, the guests appeared on screen, on an all-white backdrop and of course dressed in fashion week fashion.

Congolese designer, Anifa Mvuemba, gave us an idea of what fashion presentations might look like in a post-pandemic world with her collection presentation using virtual models.

Her 3D runaway show is part of a growing trend of fashion houses to embrace technology to showcase their designs.
